Barshams first home game of the season was against first division new boys Ole Frank, who like Barsham have only picked up 1 point from their opening two games. Barsham started the quicker and were rewarded after 2 minutes when a through ball from Sean Pasque found Josh Woolnough, he beat the offside trap and calmly slotted the ball in the bottom left hand corner, for the best possible Barsham start. After the goal, the game got a bit scrappy and Ole Frank were slowly getting back into the game, and just after 20 minutes on the clock, they equalised with a header from the back post. Stuart King and Aaron Williams were combining well with the front two of Adam White and Josh Woolnough and were creating some good scoring opportunities. Josh Woolnough controlled a long ball from Stuart King, and with only the keeper to beat, the keeper pulled off a great save to deny him his second goal. Again the same players from the previous chance, created another chance, this time the opportunity fell to Adam White who scored, but the goal was disallowed for an infringement. Despite the pressure from Barsham towards the end of the first half, the score remained 1-1 at half time. Barsham started the second half, how they ended the first with some good scoring opportunities and some good flowing football and were rewarded just under the hour. Aaron Williams combined with Josh Woolnough who found Adam White in space; he cut inside then after beating the defender sent in a curling shot into the roof of the net to give Barsham the lead again. Further attempts from Adam White and Glen Balls brought some good saves from the Ole Frank goalkeeper, however Barsham couldn't extend their lead. Ole Frank started to get back on top, however the Barsham back four of Paul Clark, Jimmy Pepperell (stand in captain), David Howard and Michael Pye were dealing with everything the opposition had to throw at them. Behind the back four Barsham goalkeeper Paul Turner didn't have to make too many saves, but always looked comfortable in the Barsham goal. After the hour, Nick Holmes replaced Aaron Williams on the left hand side, with Phil Reeder (stand in manager) trying to find the magical ingredient for the third goal, which would hopefully give Barsham their first win of the season. Glen Balls and Sean Pasque both had excellent games and were controlling everything in central midfield.
However, it wasn't until the 80th minute until Barsham extended their lead to 3-1, Glen Balls combined well with Josh Woolnough, who cut inside and curled the ball past the goalkeeper for his 2nd goal of the game. Soon after Glen Balls was replaced by James Green. Nick Holmes moved into the middle of the park alongside Sean Pasque with James Green taking the wide position. Ole Frank never gave up and with only minutes left to play Barsham caught their opposition on the counter attack. Paul Turner found Stuart King free on the right who after controlling switched the ball to Nick Holmes. He waited for the run of James Green before playing a through ball to him. James Green cleverly chipped the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper to give Barsham a 4-1 lead and all 3 points. A good performance all round, with stand in skipper Jimmy Pepperell controlling and organising the team well. Thanks to Phil Reeder, who, for the second time in three weeks was in charge of the Barsham team with Mark Blades away on hen party in Brighton. Referee Keith Howlett fully deserves a special mention for an excellent performance in the middle.
